Bio
Daughter of German immigrants, Elnora Pittman was raised in a church-going home. To her, it was like going through the motions—getting baptized as a baby, dressing up, sitting still, Sunday school, singing hymns, reciting liturgy, and confirmation—something that was done on Sundays.
Elnora was the second of four children, with one older sister and two younger brothers. Her childhood was ‘good’ by many standards, but also had its share of trauma. When she was five, her parents started taking in foster children. Some of the children were very neglected, abused and violent and took out their pain and aggression on Elnora and her siblings.
At age seven, her family moved from Calgary to the small town of Cardston. This was a very difficult transition for her and her older sister especially. Cardston was known as the only town in Canada to have a Mormon temple.. As a non-mormon, she and her older sister, Meta were bullied constantly. Her sister turned to drugs and ran away from home. This affected Elnora deeply. It was around this time, Elnora started to write songs.
When Elnora graduated, she attended Camrose Lutheran College. She thought that getting out of the town she grew up in would change her life, but all the friends and parties could not fill the emptiness she had inside. She came to this realization while riding a greyhound bus back to Camrose. The couple sitting across from her shared how they had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Since she had nowhere to go, and a six- hour bus ride, she listened and realized that what was missing in her life was having Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. She repented, asked for forgiveness and asked Jesus to be her Lord and Savior. That was the beginning of an incredible journey.
Elnora toured for a year with a Christian band called Morning Star, out of New Creation Ministries (Break Forth). She married Pierre Pittman in October 1987. They have two grown children, Josiah and Courtney. Elnora has been a pastor’s wife, recording artist, worship leader, piano & voice teacher, educational assistant and business owner. She became a mother-in-law May 2020 and a Nana of in August 2021. Over the years, she has experienced many highs and lows, but God has been a constant through all of it.
She currently lives in Lloydminster, AB, where she is an active part of the worship ministry at First Baptist Church. She also runs her own music instruction business called Morethanotes Music.
The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them;
he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
but the Lord delivers him from them all; Psalm 34:17-19
